Cost:
For all teams the fall registration fee will be $185 dollar plus coach’s fees and uniform (please see uniform section below). The registration fee cover GYSA registration, insurance, referee fees, and facility costs. Coach’s fees will vary depending on the team and will be distributed during tryouts. Typically coach’s fees will run from zero to $200 a season depending on the team. A coach’s fee schedule will be distributed at tryouts.
Tournament fees will vary by team and are seperate from the above.
Scholarships:
Scholarships are available on a need basis and applied for by each individual team coach/manager. GISA attempts to ensure that no player is turned away due to financial hardship. Any questions on scholarships can be directed to the DOC or the GISA President.
Travel:
On average, GISA premier teams have 4 or 5 away games. These away games are usually in the metro Jacksonville area. Games are normally scheduled on Saturdays but teams do occassionally play on Sunday afternoons to accomodate weather, tournaments and holiday schedules. Home games are all played on Jekyll Island.
Coaching:
The GISA Director of Coaching assigns the travel coaches for each team.
Schedules:
The regular fall season differs slightly for different age groups:
U15 - U19 will start practices around August 1, 2010. League games usually begin the last Saturday of August and run until mid-October. Individual teams may choose to play tournaments before and after this and usually end their season by mid-November. Team tryouts are held in late May/early June
U9-U14 usually start practice in early August. League games will run from early September to mid November. Individual teams may choose to play tournaments before and after this. The regular spring season will run from early March to mid May. Team tryouts are held in late May/early June.
Training:
Most select teams train twice a week, normally at the Jekyll Island Soccer Complex. Additional training including skills sessions, speed and agility training, and keeper sessions will be arranged at the discretion on the DOC.
Uniforms:
GISA has adopted a new Adidas uniform for academy/select teams for the fall 2009 through, and including, the fall 2010 season.
The cost of the uniform will vary from $77 - $95 dollars depending on size and gender.
Individual team managers will coordinate orders the first two weeks of June to ensure teams are properly fitted before the start of the season.
All payments for fall are due before June 30th. A $25 late fee will be added to those payments not received by June 30th. If said payment is not made prior to the first scheduled game, the player’s game card will not be provided to the team manager and or coach meaning this player will be unavailable for any team games and training. The player card will only be issued after payment has been received. If a player has an outstanding balance from a previous season, the “no play” rule will be in force until the amount in question is satisfied. This rule is in force for regular season games and or preseason tournaments and shall apply to all players either in recreational, academy or select programs.” Once a player has been assigned to a team roster there will be no refunds after August 1st.
